'NEBRASKA LIVESTOCK WELFARE LAWS RE-ORGANIZED'

(Unicameral Update) -- The Unicameral Update reports that last week, Nebraska lawmakers voted to give final approval to a bill that "reorganizes livestock animal cruelty laws into a new livestock welfare section of statute." The story notes that LB865 passed on a 47-0 vote. The bill's sponsor, Sen. Deb Fischer of Valentine, said "the bill brings clarity to animal welfare statutes by creating a new section to recognize the different standards of common care and husbandry required for livestock versus other animals." The State Chamber supports LB865. See more at http://unicameralupdate.blogspot.com/2010/03/revenue-bond-ballot-measure-passes.html>
