CDL LICENSE AND DRUG TESTING FINE

I just got a message from one of our farm clients that is getting audited by carrier enforcement. He wanted to get the word out to all farmers that if they have anyone with a CDL working for them, including themselves, they are required to have a drug testing program.

If they do not and they get pulled over or have an accident, even if they are found to not be at fault, carrier enforcement will investigate them and they will be fined. The fine is $750 by the state and then most likely followed up by a federal fine of $2,000. He is going through this now due to an accident that was the other driver’s fault. The carrier enforcement gentleman has been very nice and helping him get in compliance, but he will still be fined. The carrier enforcement said that 95% of farmers are not in compliance and probably most of those do not even know about the rules.
